April 5, 2026 , Bodycam footage captures Mountain Home Police officers responding to a welfare check at a local motel after concerns were raised about two young children. What began as a routine police investigation quickly escalated when a man identifying himself as the girls’ uncle refused to allow officers to complete the welfare check.
As officers attempted to ensure the children’s safety, the uncle repeatedly interfered with the investigation, ignored multiple lawful commands, and ultimately resisted arrest. Once officers were finally able to enter the motel room, they discovered living conditions that prompted an immediate response from the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS).
The children’s mother, who had been working downstairs at the motel, explained that the girls had been left in the care of their uncle. Officers documented the condition of the room before DHS responded to assess the children’s welfare.
In an effort to avoid placing the children into emergency state custody, officers arranged for them to stay temporarily with a trusted neighbor while the investigation continued.
