Palmer believes he is about to meet a 15 year old girl,his been grooming her for todsay’s meeting for almost 2 y ears.
Palmer is arresed quickly and quitely.
Sunday night has been working with this police unit for 6 months.

He is also a veteran dtective,34 years with the New South wells police force.

It is very important that these profile have the things that you would expect a 13 or 14 year – old to have because they’re the sort of questions that online predator may ask.
and there are more of them then ever,the office scoreboard shows the number of arrests for every year the unit has been in operation,32 arrests though that’s an arrest every 11 days , that’s frightening.

It was a tip -off that led police to Richard Palmer.
But catching a predator isn’t easy , it takes months of work.Sunday news joined the unit when the case was still new.
A mother had got in touch with police, when she notices Palmer was messaging her then 14 year old daughter on facbook.
With the family’s permission, police took over her real facebook account to continue the conversation with Palmer.
The unit had to take over on this chat as a 15 year old girl.
That included the latest abbreviations emojis and symbols
The language, she is using.
The detective repeatledly reminds Palmer of the girl’s age, Palmer sends a picture, he wants some in return, ever so slowly , the conversation turns explicit most of it we can’t show , Palmer is constantly online,even when this is filming.
He’s talked about meeting , this is where it’s real concern.
The process is slow,weeks of patient and carful conversation, until Palmer finally want’s to in person.
They decide on a location.11 : 00 a.m Thursday at a car park – a trap is set.
Police, empty his pocket , get the keys to his house , search his car.

He made up a fake profile, an 18 year old kid called Brandon who played ina band, Sonia’s daughter Carly Ryan only spoke with him online,but she fell madly in love with him,she messaged Brandon every day.
Gary Newman , now posing as Brandon’s father concocted an elaborate a story to meet Carly.
He said ,he was coming to Adelaide around Carly’s birthday and loved to drop some presents over , Brandon won’t be able to come but he wanted to drop some stuff in for her and ” it be lovely to meet you and all your family.”
Gary Neman flew from Melbourne to Adelaide , he said he didn’t have a hotel booked so Sonia invited him to stay overnight.
Nothing out of the ordinary ,nothing suspicipious,this went on for days until one morning when Sonia woke up early.
Sonia walked past Carly’s bedroom and he was lying on her bed on top of her covers,Newman left but he was furious and later vowed to a friend..
…He would get revange.
It came a few weeks later -again using the fake profile of young Brandon he lured Carly to a nearby beach , she didn’t tell her mom where she was going.
Little did Sonia know that was the last time,she saw her daughter.
So she went to meet whom she thought was Brandon as far as we know at some point Gary Newman attack her from behind.
Police found Newman only days later, he was sitting at his computer sending messages to yet another underage girl, he was later sentenced to life in prison
At home Shelly Johns is a regular mom,packing lunches, and sending boys off to school, her day job is anything but regular.
Detective seargent Johns is using one of the fake police child profiles, she’s operating the facebook account of a 14 year old girl and she has been targeted by a 47 year old man.
He knows what he’s doing is wrong, he knows it’s illegal .
The man lives on th Central Coast of New South Wales , increcibly,he has two children of his own.
The man has made no attempt to hide his identity,he’s using his facebook account,he’s shared his mobile number , he’s even tried to call.
And i gets worse…
He’s saying , can you stay at a friend’s place,I’ll talk with your mom and say that you hanging out here with my daughter”
His offering to get in touch with this ,14 year old girl’s mom to provide the excuse for her to leave.
Again ,the level of criminality is just ,it’s outrageous.
When it comes to these predators, there is no pattern of a profession,a profil.
People as young as 18,19 years of age right up to people in their 70’s.
The rules are- there are no rules when it comes to the internet.

Back at the office wit Detectve Johns and the chat with the 47 year old man on the Central Coast is getting serious,he wants to meet this 14 year old girl.
He is booking a nearby hotel room for the two of them.
There are six police officers in three seperate cars.

At this point, every message is crucial, if he smells a rat he wont turn up.

Incredibly ,this father of two , is trying to blame his own son.
